There will be a Bible Quest Committee meeting on February 20, 2010, at the Cornerstone Conference.  The meeting will begin at 9:30am.   Committee members need to email Sue Goins to confirm your attendance.

Here is a list of items to be discussed.  Any additional items will be welcomed as well.

  2. Staffing and training of BQ quiz masters, judges, scorekeepers for both TBQ & JBQ.  Proofing the questions before tournament practice.
  3. JBQ/PBQ program: Is it working for your young people? You? Any changes we need to make? Should we continue 20 point questions for PBQ? Decline in the number of young people in this ministry and what we can do about it.
  4. Budget
  5. Concerns over the TBQ questions and what could be done to improve.
  6. Face book, Website and any means we can use to promote BQ.
  7. Bible Master Award program
  8. Bible Quest Camp 2010 – Theme: “Transformed”
    Romans 12:1-2 (NKJV)
1 “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

    Theme OK?
What do we need to do at the camp to help everyone kick off the new year of quizzing?
Bring your suggestions. Would you like to do T-shirts this year? If not, what? Any additions thoughts or ideas.
  9. Prayer needed for this ministry.

Show and Share

Dear friends,
Cornerstonebiblequest.org. A website for Bible Quest – Our first newsletter to “Show and Share” This truly is a remarkable day in time for us; a goal we have had for sometime is now a reality.
We can “Show and Share” and let others know what Bible Quest is and how it will benefit them. During our journey together we will show you pictures of young people that have studied the Word of God and then come together to compete by quizzing. We will share how the Word of God has helped them in their personal walk with the Lord. We will also share Bible Quest helps so you can learn more about quizzing.
What do you want to accomplish with your ministry? After doing many activities over the years in youth ministry, this question stayed on my heart and I knew I had to have the right answer. I had taught a teen Sunday school class for several years and I questioned what they really learned and how it was helping them in their daily walk with the Lord. I was discouraged that they never read beforehand the lesson, or seldom would bring a Bible to class. The Word of God did not seem to fit into their life or be a source of help in their personal life. The desire of my heart was that the Young People would fall in love with God and His Word. “Young Disciples in Thy Word…Thy Word in Young Disciples” That was the burden of my heart, that was what I wanted to accomplish with my ministry.
After much prayer one Sunday I tore up the Sunday School quarterly in class and told them we were going to study and learn God’s Word together one verse at a time. With brand new bibles, a New Testament study bible for everyone we began this journey with the book of John, chapter one, verse one. We would go to verse two when everyone understood verse one. It took almost two years to go through the book of John but I believe in my heart they understood God’s Word, how to apply and live according to His Word. They began to get into the Word of God and the Word was getting into them. Bible Quest is a ministry with a focus on understanding God’s Word, hiding in their heart and becoming doers of the Word.
What is more exciting or important than young people equipped with the Word of God? Their sword is sharp and they know how to overcome and make smart choices based on the Word of God. The young people build a relationship with God based on God’s Truths and His love and care for them.
The “B” in Bible Quest is all about Young Disciples in Thy Word and Thy Word in Young Disciples. The “Q” in Bible Quest stands for the quest to do your best for Jesus as you quiz with others. It is “Iron sharpening iron” that helps us grow and mature in the Lord Jesus Christ.
A question all youth leaders must answer is “What do I want to accomplish with my ministry?” Do you know God’s answer to this question?
Thank you for reading our first newsletter. Pray for us as we continue on our quest for God, His Word and equipping young people with the Word of God. Please contact us with your questions and concerns.
In His Word, Sue Goins
